The Root of All Evil? is a television documentary, written and presented by Richard Dawkins, in which he argues that the world would be better off without religion. The documentary was first broadcast in January 2006, in the form of two 45-minute episodes (excluding advertisement breaks), on Channel 4 in the UK. Dawkins has said that the title "The Root of All Evil?" was not his preferred choice, but that Channel 4 had insisted on it to create controversy.[1] His sole concession from the producers on the title was the addition of the question mark. Dawkins has stated that the notion of anything being the root of all evil is ridiculous.[2] Dawkins's book The God Delusion, released in September 2006, goes on to examine the topics raised in the documentary in greater detail. In The Virus of Faith, Dawkins opines that the moral framework of religions is warped, and argues against the religious indoctrination of children. The title of this episode comes from The Selfish Gene, in which Dawkins discussed the concept of memes Tags: The God Delusion root evil all Views: 520 Rating: Posted By: admin |

Category: PoliticsThe Trials of Henry Kissinger
The film focuses on Christopher Hitchens' charges against Henry Kissinger as a war criminal - allegations documented in Hitchens' book of the same title - based on his role in countries such as Cambodia, Chile, and Indonesia. Kissinger's story raises profound questions about American foreign policy and highlights a new era of human rights. Increasing evidence about one man's role in a long history of human rights abuses leads to a critical examination of American diplomacy through the lens of international standards of justice.
The film focuses mainly on Kissinger's role in America's secret bombing of Cambodia in 1969, the approval of Indonesia's genocidal assault on East Timor in 1975, the assassination of a Chilean general in 1970, and his involvement in the 1969 Paris peace talks concerning the Vietnam Conflict. War Made Easy reaches into the Orwellian memory hole to expose a 50-year pattern of government deception and media spin that has dragged the United States into one war after another from Vietnam to Iraq. Narrated by actor and activist Sean Penn, the film exhumes remarkable archival footage of official distortion and exaggeration from LBJ to George W. Bush, revealing in stunning detail how the American news media have uncritically disseminated the pro-war messages of successive presidential administrations. Category: PoliticsPlan Colombia
What was the point of Plan Colombia? Is the U.S. government still concerned with fighting drugs? Why have 20 years of drug wars in the Andes resulted in a two-fold increase in cocaine imported into the U.S. in the last ten years alone? Could there be alternate purposes to a plan focused on beefing up the brutal Colombia military and spraying coca fields in rebel-held parts of the country when coca is grown all over Colombia? And what about oil, given that Colombia has the same oil potential as Venezuela, currently the second largest oil supplier to the U.S.? The award-winning Free Will Productions team sheds light on the complex issues of drug-trafficking and civil struggle in Colombia and the impact of both the current chemical-spray program and the multibillion dollar aid package delivered to the military.
